THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re excited to be recruiting for a talented, technically minded, and highly creative Senior Image Retoucher to join our Photography and Retouch Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced retoucher who combines exceptional technical expertise with a passion for beautiful imagery, product accuracy and creative storytelling.
You’ll play a key role in bringing our imagery to life across our Joma Jewellery and Katie Loxton brands, taking ownership of the retouch process from shoot handover through to final release. As the technical specialist within the team, you’ll set the standard for product and creative retouching, own our guidelines and workflows, and ensure every image is delivered to the highest possible standard, on time and with product accuracy at the forefront.
Alongside your own hands-on retouching, you’ll make an impact by providing clear direction, mentorship and technical guidance to the wider retouch team. You’ll allocate work, quality-check output, develop best practice and help the team continuously improve. You’ll also work closely with photographers, Creative Production, Design, Content and wider business teams to establish the creative direction for shoots and ensure imagery is consistent from the first frame through to the final asset.
This role is perfect for someone who loves getting into the detail, thrives in a fast-paced creative environment and enjoys being the person others turn to for technical expertise. You’ll also have the opportunity to shape how we use AI-assisted retouching, identifying where new technology can create efficiencies while always protecting the quality, authenticity and accuracy of our products.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
Own and continuously develop our product and creative retouch guidelines, ensuring the team has clear standards, processes and technical direction to work from.
Own and refine the end-to-end retouch process, from shoot handover, grading and retouch through to final release, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and quality.
Retouch complex, hero, campaign and lifestyle imagery, setting the creative and technical benchmark for the wider team.
Review and approve product and creative imagery against agreed guidelines, with exceptional attention to colour accuracy, product representation and overall image quality.
Work closely with the Creative Production Manager and Head of Creative to translate the shoot bible into a clear working grade and retouch reference, agreeing the creative direction and Capture One processing approach for each shoot.
Attend photoshoots where required, carrying out test edits, establishing the look on the day and helping ensure the creative direction is right before the shoot wraps.
Act as a key point of contact for retouch requests across the business, providing creative direction and making informed decisions on how imagery should look.
Own export specifications across relevant platforms, ensuring all imagery is release-ready and carrying out final spot checks before assets are handed over.
Maintain naming conventions and folder discipline across the image management structure, auditing team compliance and helping to keep our workflows organised.
Partner with Design, Content and wider business teams to communicate progress, manage expectations and proactively highlight any risks or issues that could impact deadlines.
Allocate and direct retouch work across the team, creating clear briefs and balancing workload against shoot volumes, priorities and deadlines.
Train, mentor and develop Midweight Retouchers and freelance support, providing constructive feedback and helping to raise the standard and consistency of the team's output.
Brief freelance Retouchers on our guidelines and quality standards, reviewing their output and providing feedback to the Retouch Manager.
Deputise for the Retouch Manager when required, taking ownership of day-to-day priorities, deadlines and escalations.
Work closely with the Photography Team to identify opportunities for better ways of working and stronger collaboration between photography and retouch.
Participate in debriefs with E-commerce, Buying, Product, Print and Digital teams to identify improvements and recommend new processes or ways of working.
Champion a positive, collaborative team environment, leading by example and helping to maintain strong team morale.
AI-ASSISTED RETOUCHING
Use AI-powered tools across Photoshop, Lightroom and Capture One, including Generative Fill, Generative Expand, AI masking and upscaling, to improve efficiency without compromising product accuracy.
Combine AI-assisted techniques with strong traditional retouching craft, knowing when technology adds value and when a manual approach will deliver the better result.
Critically review all AI-generated output, ensuring colour, texture, form and detail remain an accurate representation of the product.
Develop and document best practice guidelines for AI-assisted retouching, clearly defining where AI should be used, where it shouldn't, and the quality checks required.
Train and upskill the wider team on approved AI tools and techniques, sharing efficiencies while maintaining a consistent standard across all imagery.
Keep up to date with developments in AI technology and proactively recommend tools and techniques that could improve speed, consistency or quality across our brands.

Joma Jewellery was founded in 2008 by Katie and Geoff Loxton, since then we have gone from strength to strength, launching Katie Loxton in 2015 and growing our business beyond the UK. We know that part of that growth comes from the fact that we take diversity and inclusion very seriously. We strive to be the best in our field, and we know that happens by hiring a diverse team and encouraging everyone to be their authentic selves when working with us. We don’t hire based on cultures, preferences, or personalities – it’s what you bring to the team that counts.
We are always striving to improve our way of working to be more inclusive, diverse and equal, including encouraging all team members to bring their ideas to the table as we know this is key to our continued success.
